THE sun was shining over Minchinhampton on Sunday as dozens headed to Horsfall House summer fete.

Visitors enjoyed pony rides, steam engine rides, children’s games, face painting and a bouncy castle, as well as music from Wotton-under-Edge Silver Band and dancing by pupils from Minchinhampton Primary School.

The fete was opened by the Rev Helen Bailey, rector of the benefice of Minchinhampton, Box and Amberley.

There were plenty of refreshments on offer with Winstones ice-cream, traditional cream teas and the popular beer tent.

Town crier Tony Evans was also on hand to direct visitors in his own unique way.

The fete raised several thousand pounds to help support Horsfall House and the free respite care the home in Windmill Road offers in its specialist dementia unit.

Fundraising co-ordinator John Jutsum said: “It was a fabulous afternoon, the dedication and hard work of all the volunteers came together to make the fete a great success.

“It is wonderful to hear visitors commenting on what a lovely afternoon they have had, and leave with a smile on their face.”
