A GROUP of Stroud activists are hoping they can draw attention to the growing issue of man-made climate change.

Members of the campaign group GlosCAN has organised a march through Stroud to coincide with the People’s Climate March taking place in New York on Sunday, September 21.

The aim of the march is to put pressure on governments to develop binding policies to curb CO2 emissions and to encourage humanity to adopt low carbon initiatives.

Gloucestershire’s climate march leaves the Sub Rooms forecourt at noon and will progress up to Rodborough Sports Field where participants will make a large heart-shape to symbolize the things they cherish which are under threat from the destabilising build-up of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Ahead of the march there is a meeting to make flags and banners between 10am and 4pm on Sunday, September 14 at The Exchange in Brick Row, Stroud.

GlosCAN committee member, Arun Cappi said: “The event is an opportunity to share information with the wider public and to show the impact that we are having on the atmosphere.”
