A FORMER Stroud man has admitted assaulting his wife causing her actual bodily harm and twice assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

Philip Collings, 43, appeared at Gloucester Crown Court on Monday.

The court heard the offences happened when he was living in Stroud.

Collings is now required to live at a bail hostel in Swindon pending sentencing on October 6.

He was to have stood trial on four assault charges, one of them alleging he wounded a woman with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

But after he admitted the other three charges – assaulting his wife Jenna and causing actual bodily harm on October 2, 2009 and assaulting the girl by beating on February 1 and 2 this year, prosecutor Julian Kesner said he would not proceed with the more serious allegation.

The judge, Recorder James Tindal, granted bail pending a pre-sentence report but warned that a custodial sentence was highly likely.
