LEGENDARY English rock band Status Quo will be headlining next year's Lechlade Music Festival.

The band, which rose to fame in the 70's, have had more than 60 chart hits in the UK starting with 1967's Pictures of Matchstick Men and the most recent being in 2010.

And next May bank holiday, award winning Status Quo will be coming to the Cotswolds to headline a popular family music festival in Lechlade.

Organiser of the annual festival Jennie Rainsford said she never thought in a million years that the band would agree to come to the village.

"I was squeaking a lot when I found out," she said. "It's absolutely brilliant. I cannot wait.

"We had a really wet year this year which hit us hard so we had to make a decision to turn it on its head and make it huge or just turn away. But we thought we can't just let it go."

The festival team chose Status Quo because of their "amazing longevity".

"They're releasing another album in October," said Jennie. "We thought really long and hard about who to have. And if you don't ask, you don't get."

Lechlade Music Festival 2015 will run from 22-24 May with Status Quo headlining on the Sunday night.

Also returning next year are Dr and the Medics plus more top live music from around the local area and from across the country.

There will also be free workshops for all the family, real ales, camping and lots more family festival fun.

Organisers have confirmed that tickets will be staying the same price this year with children aged 16 and under going free.
