LEADING instrumentalist and singers from around the world will be turning Tetbury into a buzzing musical hub this weekend for a classical music festival.
St Marys’ Church on Church Street will be the venue for Tetbury Music Festival, which starts today.
The festival will be closed on Sunday with a rendition of Johann Sebastian Bach’s St John Passion, which is being dedicated to Gloucestershire philanthropist David Thomas.
Jonathan Cohen, who is artistic director for the festival, said: “I look forward to welcoming four days of exciting concerts with exceptional artists in the stunning setting. As artistic director, it gives me as much pleasure to see musicians appreciating this welcoming and enthusiastic Tetbury audience as it does to see the audience enjoying the highest standard of music making on stage.”
Among the performers at the festival will be instrumentalists, Cuarteto Casals, a quartet from Spain, who will be playing compositions contrasting the 18th and 20th century, before being joined by the cellist Nicolas Altstädt for a 19th century piece.
Tickets are available from The Tetbury Tourist Information Centre, call 01666 503552.
