SNJ editor Sue Smith is getting into shape for an adventurous holiday.

DON’T know whether I am coming down with a bug or if it is the change in temperature but all I have wanted to do for two weeks now is eat comfort food and curl up in front of the fire.

My personal trainer at Fifth Dimension Health Club, Matt Collins says everything is ok in moderation – ie stick to the 80/20 rule.

Well that’s well and truly gone out of the window recently and normally I wouldn’t be beating myself up about it but I have rashly signed up for a three day cycling trip.

I keep doing this. I am not crazy about cycling. I don’t even feel that safe in the saddle but somehow I cannot find the word ‘no’ in my vocabulary when invited along to these two wheeler expeditions.

The only comfort I can take is that the trip is in Spain so if I am lucky I might be able to soak up the last dregs of some sun before winter takes hold.

The bad news is it is quite hilly.

If I apply myself I could come back a few pounds lighter which may be be the incentive I need to kickstart me back on the fitness route.

The whole key to this dieting/fitness malarkey is organisation. Taking the time to plan is crucial to its success but time is something that has been in short supply recently.

Today I am making lists.

Tomorrow I will shop and sometime this week I swear I will get my trainers on.
