GREATER Manchester Police have issued CCTV images of a number of witnesses they would like to speak to as part of the investigation into the death of Michael Carter.

Michael and a friend were walking on King Street West, Manchester, at around 3.10am on Sunday 31 August 2014 when they got into a discussion with two other men.

Michael was punched and he fell to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement. The two men ran off in the direction of Deansgate, Manchester, towards Bridge Street.

He was taken to hospital but sadly died on 10 September 2014.

A 20-year-old man from Urmston was arrested on suspicion of murder and a 19-year-old man from Stretford was arrested on suspicion of affray. Both have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Detectives have now released CCTV images taken from a camera on Deansgate which shows a number of people milling around while emergency services tend to Michael. A number of people went to Michael's aid including an off-duty nurse who gave him first aid.

Officers now want to hear from anyone filmed at the scene if they have yet to speak to the police.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Eales said: “We recently released images showing possible offenders and we had an excellent response from the public.

“We are now looking for that again.

"We want people to have a look at the footage released today and let us know if you see yourself in it or recognise someone.

"In particular we'd like to hear from the off-duty nurse who gave him first aid at the scene before paramedics arrived.

“The footage isn’t particularly clear but I think you could recognise yourself.

"So, please call us if you’re captured in this footage because your information could be vital to this investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 3400 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
