ESSENTIAL resurfacing work is taking place at Alvington Village on the A48 in Gloucestershire between Sunday, October 26 and Sunday, November 2.

The work to the stretch of road on the A48 between the access to the Swan Pub and the start of the dual carriageway on the north side of the village, will take place during 7.30am and 4.30pm.

Due of the width of the road, it will be closed while the work is being carried out but will be fully open outside of these hours and all day on Saturday, November 1.

However, access for emergency vehicles will still be in place pedestrian routes won’t be affected.

There will be a full diversion route in place during the closure, which will direct traffic from Tutshill via the B4228, and B4231 to Lydney.

Local residents and road users who frequently use this road may know of a more appropriate route.

Councillor Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “This resurfacing work will make a big difference to the stretch of road on the A48. However I do appreciate that works like this do inconvenience people, so I’d like to thank them for their patience.”

Local County Councillor for Alvington, Councillor Patrick Molyneux, said: “This resurfacing work will be great for the area and I’m sure local residents and businesses will welcome the improvements.”
