STROUD library will close for two weeks from Monday, November 3 to Monday, November 17 while the lighting is upgraded.
Internal lights will be replaced and upgraded at the library and repairs will be made to the roof. To complete the work quickly and safety it will be necessary to close the library while the improvements are made.
All items borrowed from Stroud Library will have their loan period extended in the run up to the library's closure.
This means that no items will be due back when the library is closed, making it easier and more convenient for customers.
Library customers can visit the nearest alternative libraries which are based at Elm Road, Stonehouse and Old Market, Nailsworth.
There are also community libraries at the Town Hall in Painswick and School Road, Minchinhampton.
Customers are also reminded that they can renew and reserve books online at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries or call the library helpline on 0845 230 5420.
Councillor Andrew Gravells, cabinet member responsible for libraries said: “I’m pleased so see continued investment going into our libraries from the county council.
"The new energy efficient lighting will further enhance the good work we’re doing to make our libraries welcoming and fit for purpose. I hope customers will bear with us while we make the improvements.”
