A TWO-man Pinter play shows at the Sub Rooms this weekend.

Following sell-out performances at this summer's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Cross Cut Theatre’s production of The Dumb Waiter tours to Stroud as part of a three-date season.

Two assassins wait for instructions in a dilapidated basement.

The room is bare except for two beds and the dumb waiter connected to the cafe above. The killers are primed and ready, anxious for news of their victim.

Suddenly, the dumb waiter starts working. The information they need might be on its way.

What arrives is strangely shocking. An order for steak and chips!

Is this a joke or something more sinister?

This tense, funny two-hander is a tiny masterpiece by a towering figure of British theatre. It is quintessential Pinter, simultaneously menacing and comedic.

Shows at the Sub Rooms on Sunday at 3pm.

Tickets available at the Sub Rooms or via www.subscriptionrooms.org.uk/
