IT’S an absolutely bumper market this week with an amazing selection of local food stalls and a few local crafts people too.

We are delighted to host the first stall for a new local leather worker, NG Leather, who will have a selection of his stock available for sale; including belts, bracelets, dog collars and various bags; all handmade in fine leather with solid brass clasps and buckles.

For the sweet toothed there is no shortage of fabulous stalls.

Katie Crunch, the Chalford Fudge maker, returns with some new flavours that she has been developing since her last visit to the market but she will have to go some to beat the fabulous salted treacle flavour which I had last time she came.

The Cotswold Pudding Company will be there with the perfect range of puddings for long dark evenings, sticky maple and pecan toffee pudding with custard or ice cream is fabulous. Sweet Hearts of Nailsworth operate at the extreme end of chocolate luxury, with their stall absolutely chocca with just about every sort of chocolate delight you could imagine, from millionaire shortbread to their own versions of Snickers and Mars bars.

The Country Girls stall is a feast of more traditional baking with fruit pies, cakes such as sticky ginger and lemon drizzle and a wide range of biscuits and cookies including my personal favourite; Granny Crumpler’s shortbread, available in lavender, choc chip and plain.

Of course we can’t really talk about sweet things at the market without mentioning Pippin Doughnuts; probably the best doughnuts in the world.

And we really should mention Must have Muffins who have both savoury and sweet muffins and of course La Parisienne, Hobbs House and The Artisan Baker, our weekly bread stalls who carry a range of sweet pastries and cakes on their stalls.

Finally a shout out for Emma, who will be running the market café this weekend.

She makes extraordinary cakes for the café to have with your cuppa.

This week she will have Pumpkin Pie with Jess’ Organic cream as the seasonal special.
