POLICE are appealing for information following the death of a man in a crash on the M5, in order to assist with the police investigation.
A two vehicle crash, in which a man died, occurred on the M5 motorway northbound about half a mile south of Junction 8 near Twining yesterday at about 18.40.
The collision involved an HGV and a White Sprinter Box Van.
The front seat passenger of the box van, aged 29, from the Derby area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the box van, from the West Bromwich area was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, suffering from serious injuries.
The driver of the HGV was uninjured. The northbound lane was closed for about 7 hours. The M5 was fully re-opened at about 4.15am this morning.
The family of the deceased person has been informed and ask that their privacy be respected at this time.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them on 101 quoting Incident 445 of 6/11/14.
