STROUD Rotary Club is offering runners the chance to get into the spirit of Christmas and raise money for two good causes at the same time.

The first Santa Fun Run – sponsored by the Stroud News & Journal – will take place around a 1km route in Stratford Park, on Sunday, December 14.

Runners and joggers can test themselves over three laps, while walkers and strollers will tackle one lap.

The event will start from 10.45am and entry can be completed online at stroud funrun.co.uk Fancy dress is an option and every entrant will receive a Santa hat and medal.

Santa suits are available to buy at the time of booking for £5, to be collected on the day. In addition to getting some winter exercise, entrants will be raising money for two local charities – Home-Start Stroud and the Cotswold Care Hospice.

Organisers are asking every participant to raise just £20.14 in sponsorship to help them hit the target of £1,000, which will be split between the two good causes.

Entry is £7.50 (adults), £2.50 (children), £10 (adult and child) and £18 (family).
