WELL I guess we’ve reached the end of the summer.

There are still a few pairs of shorts floating about but most of us have dug our woollies out, especially those of us working the markets.

I have to start with a sad announcement – Mrs Morris, wife of Jim and mother to Fiona and Liz from Croft Farm Apples and Plums – has passed away.

Mrs Morris died the Saturday before last after collapsing outside Emmaus on London Road.

The funeral will take place on Thursday this week at 12.30pm at Ashleworth parish church, all welcome.

The Morris family have been trading at the market since 2000.

Our new website, fresh-n-local.co.uk has finally gone live and our first e- newsletter was sent out to all those who entered the birthday hamper draw.

The new website is well worth a look and there is a tab on there where you can sign up to the bi-monthly newsletter.

We also have a Stroud farmers’ market Facebook group which you can join if you wish to be kept updated with our gibberish on market day – it’s fun.

(Obviously I’m aware that’s subjective.) New stall NG Leather will be at the market again and is hoping to be there most weeks in the run up to Christmas.

Neil Griffin, who is based at Newnham in the Forest of Dean, has been working with leather for a couple of years now but has only started selling to the public recently.

His belts, collars and bags are made of fine leather and finished with chunky brass buckles, and, to be honest, have been selling very well the last two weeks.

Other crafts this Saturday include old favourite Mark Morel, who only appears at this time of year and sells a fabulous range of clocks and decorative frost proof plaques, In A Spin, the spinners and knitters and Lansdown Pottery.

And let us not forget that there is a right good selection of local produce on sale too.
