JOBS could be created after Stroud-based green energy company Ecotricity launched a new wind turbine venture.
Britwind will design and manufacture innovative British windmills – almost halving the cost of producing energy compared to the best-selling small wind turbines.
Ecotricity founder and Forest Green chairman Dale Vince said: “Britwind will design and manufacture 100% British windmills that are some of the most innovative in the world. They will bring big wind performance to small wind.
“What that means is we’ve almost halved the cost of making energy when compared with a similar-sized small windmill. That’s a radical transformation for the industry.”
A location for the new factory has not yet been revealed but the SNJ understands Q Park, formerly Quaker Chemicals, in South Woodchester, could be the chosen site.
