A MAN has come forward to speak to Gloucestershire Police following their appeal for him to make contact, after he called them from a phone box claiming that he saw a child being dragged into a car.
The incident was reported to have been witnessed on Naas Lane in Quedgeley at around 4pm on Thursday, November 13.
The man had called 999 from a phone box explaining that he believed he saw a girl being dragged into a black Vauxhall Vectra by a white man of large build.
Following the police appeal, both the man and a friend that he confided in, came forward to be interviewed by police over the weekend.
As a result, although the investigation continues at this time, police believe that the scene witnessed may have been a misunderstanding.
Anyone with further information to add should call 101, quoting incident number 306 of November 13.
