AN inquest has been opened and adjourned on 82-year-old Stroud man Dennis Plater.
Gloucestershire senior coroner Katie Skerrett was told Mr Plater of Walkley Hill, Rodborough, died from multiple stab wounds at his home on Friday.
He had injuries to the head, neck and back which were caused "by a sharp instrument" the coroner was told yesterday, Thursday.
A Home Office pathologist has been informed and a post mortem will be carried out, she heard.
Mrs Skerrett formally opened the inquest and adjourned it until May 13, 2015.
Yesterday, Thursday David Hall, 47, of no fixed address, was charged with the murder of Mr Plater and was remanded in custody pending an appearance at Bristol crown court on Thursday, December 11.
