THE FAMILY of a brother and sister killed in a car accident on Saturday evening are appealing for donations to help cover the funeral costs.

Former Archway School student Jinny-Mae Cook, 18, and father-of-one Bobby Roberts, 28, died in a collision with another car on the Ebley bypass.

The family are now desperately trying to raise enough money to help cover the cost of the funerals – which is expected to be around £8,000.

They are appealing to SNJ readers for donations of any amount however small, which will be gratefully received and will take away some of the burden during this difficult time.

Any remaining funds will be kept in a trust for Bobby’s three-year-old son Harley, which he will receive on his 18th birthday.

Tributes have been pouring in to Jinny and Bobby, who lived in Brick Row, Stroud, with their mother Julie Bloodworth.

They died when their VW Golf, which was heading towards the Dudbridge roundabout, was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Vectra travelling in the opposite direction towards Stonehouse at 6.45pm.

Jinny has been described as a ‘caring and sociable’ girl who ‘touched people’s hearts’ by former teachers at Archway School.

Meanwhile, one of Bobby’s closest friends, Jake Thorne, said his friend – known as ‘the dazzler’ – had a ‘cheeky smile and a lovely sense of humour’. Bobby was a father who ‘always wanted the best for his family’, he added.

“He didn’t have it easy, but wanted to work hard to make sure he could support his son,” said Jake.

Jinny was known as ‘little munchkin’ by work colleagues at Claire Frances Hair Design in Nailsworth.

In heartfelt tributes on Facebook she was described as ‘a happy, smiley, lovely girl who will be missed dearly’.

“We are just glad that they are up there together,” added one family member.

Jinny’s boyfriend Bradley Ponting wrote: “It’s so hard you not being here.

“I keep going into your room and you’re not there, it’s breaking me apart seeing all these photos of you and just reminds me of all the times we have spent together and I will never forget them.

“I’m missing you so much right now, you have been taken too young.

“I just wish you were here so I could hold you and never let go.

“We have been through so much together. I will always love you and I hope one day I will see you again my beautiful girl.”

Another tribute read: “I always thought Bobby was invincible and I suppose Jinny-Mae Cook was just as beautiful as an angel, that’s why they have taken her away.”

Archway headteacher Colin Belford also paid tribute to Jinny.

He said: “We were devastated to hear the news about Jinny, a girl who was well-liked by students and staff.

“She was a particularly caring and sociable young lady who, as one colleague commented earlier, was the sort of person who touches your heart.

“Our thoughts and condolences go to her family and friends.”

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

A male passenger in the Golf was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a man, was also taken to GRH with injuries described as not life-changing.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 415 of November 15.

Family friend Lee Barnard said: “Words cannot express how the family are feeling at this time.

“We wish to relieve some of the burden and give Jinny and Bobby the funerals they deserve.”
