A YOUNG man from Cirencester is one of two men charged with terror offences for helping a teenager travel to Syria to fight.

Forhad Raham, 20, allegedly assisted Aseel Muthana, 17, from Cardiff, in travelling to the war-torn country in February of this year using a "recently obtained replacement passport" according to South Wales Police.

Raham, from Cirencester, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London along with Kaleem Brekke, 18, from Grangetown, Cardiff.

South Wales Police Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Holland said: "The issue is not unique to Cardiff or Wales and is a priority for police across the UK.

"While we do have our share of challenges, our religious communities here in South Wales are strong and constructive.

"We remain concerned about the number of young people who have or are intending to travel to Syria to join the conflict.

"The advice is to avoid all travel to Syria - anyone who does travel is putting themselves in considerable danger."
