ANOTHER complaint has been made about the "unclear" and "illogical" parking system in Cirencester's Market Place.

The Standard had previously reported that resident Margaret Stothard had complained that the on-street parking restrictions on the Parish Church side of the road are confusing to drivers.

She parked on a single yellow line on a Sunday believing it was permitted as most local authorities allow it and also because many other cars were parked there.

However, she then received a fine and was told by the traffic warden that drivers were only allowed to park along a certain section of the yellow line. Mrs Stothard said Gloucestershire County Council should change the system so there is just one parking restriction for the whole yellow line stretching along the road, rather than just half the line on half the length of the road.

Kate Kinsey, who lives in Cirencester, has now come forward to report the same problem.

She had the same experience as Mrs Stothard, and said: "The parking restriction there is so unclear and difficult to see, not to mention illogical."

She added "We paid the penalty in the end because appealing was so difficult and time was running out to pay the lower fee."
