A PHOTOGRAPHER from Nailsworth is putting his skills to good work by focusing on helping those hit by a typhoon late last year.

Since finishing his degree studies, Sean Delahay has been working on documentary projects including one based around the Typhoon Yolanda which, in November 2013, completely devastated the island of Bantayan in the Philippines.

Sean , who attended Archway School and Stroud College, said: “I travelled to the Phillipines six months after the typhoon to volunteer as part of the relief effort, and to document the effects of the storm which destroyed more than 80 per cent of the area’s infrastructure.

“I worked with two of the first charities to reach the affected areas, which were Young Pioneer Disaster Response (YPDR) and Polish Humanitarian Action (PHA).

"I also conducted interviews with many of those affected by the typhoon.

“It shows the remarkable spirit of the people, who continued to offer hospitality even when they’d lost their homes and everywhere around them was devastation.”

Sean, who now lives in Uley, added: “I’m also hoping to raise funds for both charities by holding exhibitions of my photos from the disaster zone, along with other projects from my travels.

"Sean is now looking for a space free of charge to house the exhibition in the area."
