GLOUCESTERSHIRE Police is investigating a suspicious incident involving a man and lone young woman which took place in the Moors Park area of Cheltenham at around 2.30pm on Saturday, December 27.

Officers are trying to trace the man who is described as being between 5'10" and six feet tall, wearing dark (blue/grey) clothing, a hooded top and possibly a scarf.

The man, who is of athletic build, tried to grab the female in the park in broad daylight. DI Gavin Webb from Gloucestershire Police, who is leading the investigation, said: "This is a serious incident. Luckily the man was disturbed by a member of the public who saw him grab this young woman. The member of the public shouted out to him, the suspect then ran off.

"This is a busy area and I am sure someone else would have seen something.

"If anyone noticed a lone male acting suspiciously in the Moor Park area yesterday please can they contact me by calling 101 and quoting incident no. 201 of December 27.

"I would also remind members of the public to remain vigilant in and around this area."
