BUSINESSMAN Eren Emir only started performing as Elvis Presley six months ago but he has already been crowned The King of Europe.

The 46-year-old dad, who is the joint owner of Seafare Fish Salon in Chesterton Lane, Cirencester, won the novice title at the European Elvis Championship this month.

Judges at the competition held in Birmingham couldn’t help falling in love with Eren’s rendition of My Boy.

As a reward for winning the competition, Eren was given the chance to perform on the main stage in front of over 1,000 Elvis fans.

Eren, who is also a property businessman in Cirencester, said: “It was great to win. I was practising for six months.

“There is a lot more to it than getting up and singing.

“Since I have been an Elvis fan for such a long time, it was a lot of fun.”

Eren was too shy for a picture in his normal clothes and said he would be all shook up if Elvis fans flocked to the fish shop where he has worked for 30 years.

Michael King, organiser of the contest, said: “Eren has that certain tone to his voice – he sounds a lot like Elvis."

Eren, who has been an Elvis fan since he was eight years old, said his success has inspired him to perform as The King more often, adding: “I plan to play in the UK and abroad and do as many charity events as I can.”

He will perform at an Elvis themed charity gig in St Leonards-on-Sea on Sunday.
