A PENSIONER from Cirencester has admitted being part of a cocaine supply plot in which his son and another man are also allegedly involved.

Michael Daniels, 66, pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply the Class A drug between April 16 and September 4 last year when he appeared at Gloucester Crown Court today.

His son, Jason Daniels, and Marvin Anderson are due at the same court on Friday to face the same charge.

Jason Daniels, aged 43, of Querns Road in Cirencester, and Anderson, 33, of Jasmine Close in Gloucester, have not yet entered a plea.

Michael Daniels, of Lawrence Road, denied separate allegations of having a lock knife and a meat cleaver in his possession on September 3 and prosecutor Julian Kesner said he would not proceed with those charges and they would be left on the court file.

Sarah Jenkins, defending Michael Daniels at the crown court today, said she realised a prison term was likely but asked nonetheless for a pre-sentence report on Daniels and Judge Jamie Tabor QC agreed.

She said: "He is a man in very poor health. He has a number of ailments. I have communicated with his GP and am obtaining evidence of that in writing. That may be of some assistance.”

Daniels was granted bail pending sentence on a date to be fixed.

The judge made it a condition of his bail that he is not to enter Gloucester except for medical or court appointments.

Judge Tabor told him that jail was “an almost inevitable consequence” of the offence he admitted.
