A NEW vicar and her family are settling in well to Fairford, and admit they have already fallen in love with the welcoming and warm community.

Caroline Symcox, 34, with her husband Paul Cornell, 47, and their two-year-old son Tom, moved into the Cotswold town in November.

Before, the new vicar was a curate in Amersham, and has said she is loving her new life in Fairford.

"It's been an extremely busy time," said Caroline, who is originally from Dorset. "Starting before Christmas is heavy but it's exciting and you've got this wonderful time seeing the church busy.

"My first Sunday service was the Remembrance service," she said. And in Fairford, Armistice Day was huge. In Amersham the number gathered around the war memorial is around 10, but in Fairford, a town a third of the size, we had more than 100."

Caroline said she especially loved the sense of community in Fairford, with everyone greeting her as she walked down the street.

This is her first time being a vicar as before she spent around three years completing her degree and then almost four years being an apprentice, a curate, in Buckinghamshire.

Her husband, Paul, said he is also settling well into the town, and has already set up a monthly quiz night at the town's The Railway Inn.

A popular writer, Paul has published several Doctor Who novels and has even written some of the TV episodes featuring David Tennant. He met his wife, also a writer, while at a Doctor Who party.

Caroline has just published a book titled The Vicar's FAQ, which has been awarded four and a half stars on Amazon.

Paul's latest novel, called The Severed Streets, also has a high four and half star rating on the shopping website.

When asked what he loved most about Fairford so far, Paul replied: "The brownies at 7A Coffee Shop. The Plough pub is also great and the nursery, Flying Start, where Tom goes, is incredible. Also the huge playground in the town is immense."

Both Paul and Caroline have a strong Twitter following and encourage Cotswold residents and fans to take a look. Follow @Carolinesymcox and @Paul_Cornell to keep up with their news.
