STUDENTS from the Cirencester area who are starting at the Royal Agricultural University in September 2015, could receive a scholarship to pay for their education.

There are three scholarships available in the Cirencester Scholarship scheme, which helps high achievers with the cost of education.

Two are for new undergraduate students and one is for new postgraduate students, each worth a fee waiver of £3,000 per year.

A typical three year undergraduate student would receive a scholarship worth a total of £9,000.

Victoria Cowan, International Business Management student and Hannah Miles, who studied Agriculture received the Cirencester Scholarship in 2013.

Hannah said: “Being awarded the scholarship made my dream of studying agriculture a reality. It enables me to push myself, typically because I don’t come from a traditional farming background, to find ways of working towards my goal. The scholarship has instilled in me a sense of worthiness and I wake up every morning thinking – I can do this!”

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, students must be able to demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and motivation to succeed.

The university will take into account academic and community achievements, past, present, and potential, as well as overcoming hardship.

The scholarship is available to students who live and have studied within a ten mile radius of the University within the past two years and can demonstrate academic excellence.
