FORMER Stroud boxing champion Leigh Alliss has hooked a starring role in a national TV advert.

The boxer turned actor plays a dastardly scrap yard worker who capturers Confused.com robot BRIAN with the help of two evil cohorts.

He is seen leading the robot to an overhead magnet and then leaves him suspended in the air.

The plot thickens with BRIAN now officially missing and Leigh and his accomplices now wanted for questioning.

“The reaction to the advert has been brilliant and Confused.com have launched an online campaign to help find BRIAN and track myself and my scrap yard workers down,” revealed Leigh, who has swapped the boxing ring for the big screen. The one-time pugilist landed the lead role in the advert currently being screened on TV, after fighting off 160 auditioning actors.

Leigh, who is on the acting books of London-based First Talent Agency and has featured in Casualty and Doctor Who, added: “The audition process was tough , but I managed to get asked back in and after a second audition the director said I had nailed IT.”

Filming took place over two days in a real-life London Hendon scrap yard with Leigh being afforded the star treatment by the Ridley Scott production team .

“I had a car pick me up each morning , which was brilliant and I can’t thank the team enough. I hope to be in a follow-up to the advert and the whole experience has been amazing,” said Leigh, who was formerly ranked in the British boxing top and won the martial arts Fighting Hurts Championship in 2008.

He added: “The advert is also screened at the cinema and I have been told I am on a billboard in Japan.”
