3. Almost 50,000 drivers made claims against councils across Britain for damage caused to their vehicles by potholes in the last financial year, a Freedom of Information request from the RAC Foundation revealed.

4. Health leaders have announced a £10 million investment as part of a plan to recruit and retain more doctors. The NHS England funding will be used to develop initiatives to boost GP numbers.
