A COMPANY specialising in recreating tapestries has produced replicas of 16th Century wall hangings for the BBC drama Wolf Hall.
Zardi & Zardi based in Edge specialise in creating replica fabric printed tapestries for wall hangings, fabric walling and prop decoration.
In January last year they were commissioned by Company Productions to replicate four historic tapestries for Wolf Hall, adapted from the award-winning novel by Hilary Mantel.
βIt was a very enjoyable project and presented some exciting challenges,β said Zardi & Zardi director PJ Keeling.
In choosing three tapestries to reproduce, Zardi & Zardi worked closely with the Victoria & Albert Museum, which undertook a considerable amount of research.
In recreating the tapestry of Ether and Ahasuerus, Zardi & Zardi used 21st Century technologies to digitally manipulate it.
