GLOUCESTERSHIRE Police are pleased to report good work carried out by the community policing team and local residents in Gloucester.

In the Kingsway area of the city mopeds have been ridden along the footpath on the Fairford Road to Tuffley. This is dangerous and irresponsible behaviour.

Using CCTV equipment a pro-active resident took various photographs of the moped riders as they pulled wheelies and performed stunts, carried passengers illegally, drove on the footpath and generally ignored all motoring signs.

Their actions posed a threat of serious injury to themselves, their passengers and pedestrians.

The photographs were sent on to police and the community policing team has now issued warnings to the moped riders concerned.

It has also provided further signage in the area highlighting the risk of riders incurring fines if caught riding irresponsibly.

CCTV is a useful tool for highlighting criminal activity and Gloucestershire Police are grateful to the resident who provided them with the images.

They are also pleased to report that the community has since seen a large reduction in this type of anti-social behaviour - improving road safety in the area.
