A LINGERIE boutique attracted shoppers in Painswick – not realising it was actually a set for the filming of JK Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy.

One visitor was particularly unimpressed by the shop and complained to the parish council after wandering in to “Samantha’s Boudoir”.

Running the store was actress Keeley Hawes, playing Samantha Mollison in the BBC series about small town intrigues in the community.

Speaking to The Sun, director Johnny Campbell said: “Someone came in and thought there was a sale on, so there were several people walking around. It was amusing.”

Mr Campbell said the shop did not meet everyone’s approval after a visitor complained about it to the local parish council, claiming it was a disgrace.

Roy Balgobin, clerk of Painswick Parish Council, confirmed a villager phoned to complain about the lingerie shop.

The Casual Vacancy, staring Michael Gambon, has been filmed in Stroud, Stonehouse, Painswick, Minchinhampton and Bisley during the summer and will be hit the screens later this year.
