COMMENTS on plans to build 35 retirement apartments in the centre of Cirencester are open to the public until February 19.

Developer McCarthy & Stone plans to turn the former T H White garage in Tetbury Road into 35 one and two-bed flats, with 31 car parking spaces.

A noise assessment of the site recorded high levels of low frequency noise and an architectural report confirmed that there is a high likelihood of Roman remains under the site.

Due to the site likely containing Roman funerary activity further archaeological work is expected it the plans go ahead.

According to a spokesperson from applicant McCarthy & Stone Developments the total expenditure generated by residents in the local economy by a typical example of their developments is £670,000 per year.

If the application is approved the first residents are likely to move in during autumn 2016.
