A DAREDEVIL from Stroud is taking to the skies to raise money for a charity close to his heart.

On April 18, Ed Mobbs, who runs his own Personal Trainer business, is undertaking a tandem skydive to raise money for the Leukaemia and INtensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC).

The charity supports patients and their families affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.

Ed says: “I'm trying to raise as much as possible for LINC, which is particularly close to my heart as my brother Rafe lost his life to leukaemia in 2001.”

His daredevil feat at Swindon Airfield will be the second time Ed has jumped from an aircraft – he did a skydive from 12,000 feet in New Zealand - and once he’s safely back on earth, he won’t be putting his feet up. It’ll be straight over to Stroud Cricket Club where he and his wife Sarah will be hosting a charity evening, with an auction and casino to raise more funds.

Sarah says: “Ed and I got married in September last year and as I found myself with a little time on my hands, I thought I would try fund-raising. Since losing Rafe, at the age of 21, Ed and his family have worked tirelessly to raise funds for LINC: it’s an amazing charity which helped them so much throughout Rafe’s illness.

“We’d like to make the event a huge success and are asking businesses for donations for the auction, and for people to sponsor Ed and to come along to the evening.”

Ed adds: “I'm really looking forward to the jump. I hope to raise as much money as possible for a great cause."

If anyone would like to sponsor Ed please visit his JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/EdwardMobbs The charity evening starts at 7.30pm, and tickets cost £15 per person. They’re available from Sarah via email at fundraisingforlinc@gmail.com
