POLICE have given drivers a fighting chance this month, releasing information on where their speed vans will be focusing this coming month.

They will by prioritising the A147, particularly at the Over roundabout, Maisemore, Oridge Street, Corse and Staunton. The news comes after it was revealed that the A417 has been privy to the five fastest speeders in Gloucestershire, travelling at 121mph, 120mph, 118mph, 109mph and 108mph.

Figures from January show that, on average, only two drivers were caught per visit at Siddington, near Cirencester. On the A38 at Berkeley bridge, 38 drivers were caught in six visits, around half as many as in the same period last year.

Newent bypass saw 26 caught in five visits showing a small reduction and it was a similar story at Bristol Road, Gloucester where only 22 were caught in 5 visits.

On the Princess Elizabeth Way, Cheltenham, the number of people caught dropped to 10 a visit – half what it was over January last year.
