ONE of the world’s strongest men will be paying a visit to the Royal Agricultural University for its opening of a new gym on Friday, February 27.
Laurence Shahleai, who is a two time winner of England's Strongest Man and regular competitor in the World's Strongest Man competition, will be present for the launch of the gym which is being opened by Chris Gaskell, the principal of the university.
The new gym houses cardio equipment and resistance machines, plus a squash court and room for fitness classes.
A friendly game of squash will be played between Chris Gaskell, the principal of the university and the director of estates, Graham Barton during the launch.
It will be attended by Forest Green Rovers (FGR) players and club chairman Dale Vince (owner of green electricity company Ecotricity) and RAU sports captains – promoting a healthier lifestyle for both students and staff.
The new fitness centre has been created in response to the student survey, which asked for enhanced sports facilities and an undercover sports hall.
The launch is a private event and is open to students and staff of the university only.
