PEOPLE will be able to have their say on the future of Stroud’s town centre when a major public consultation is staged from March 7 to 14.

The steering group preparing the Neighbourhood Development Plan for the town council is organising a series of opportunities for everyone to find out what might be in the plan.

Leonora Rozee, chairman of the group, said: “We are reaching the latter stages in the preparation of the plan and we are very keen to be able to share and discuss the options with the people who live in or use the town centre in some way.”

This is the third in a series of events publicising the development of the plan, entitled Shaping the Heart of Stroud, following events in September and November.

It will lead to production of the final draft.

The event will open on Saturday, March 7 with presentations on the options at the Subscription Rooms in Stroud between 10am and 1pm.

From the Monday, March 9, to Friday, March 13, there will be a drop-in event at a shop unit at 39 King Street, Stroud where people will be able to see material about the vision, options and evidence and to talk to volunteers who are helping make the plan.

Finally, on Saturday, March 14, Lansdown Hall will be open between 10am and 2pm for people to give their views.

Camilla Hale, who is organising the event, said: “I hope as many people as possible come and talk to us so that the plan reflects majority views on what should happen in the town centre over the next 20 years.

“The shop unit in King Street will be open late on Tuesday and Thursday to ensure that those not available during the day can participate in this important event.”
