LEATHER craft worker Hannah Paget, 25, recently opened her family-owned luxury handbag boutique in Minchinhampton High Street.

With all her tools and leather hides around her, the shop, called Hannah Paget, doubles as a showroom and a workshop for her to design, cut and stitch her bags.

Hannah said: “People can see that I’m working and can come in and I’ve been able to customise fastenings on bags as well as make my own handbag designs.”

Cirencester’s Lady Sara Bathurst recently borrowed PAGET No 3 in black for a week and gave a review for the handbag: “The bag is lovely and would be perfect for everyday use.”

Hannah added: “As inspiration for this collection we looked at the most iconic bags and created a twist to them. My bags have soft lines and light-weight leathers producing a classic look that would be attractive to all women.”

“Our ionic finger print plate is also featured on each design as a mark of approval and a representation that they are all handmade, exclusive and limited edition.”

Hannah is just back from spending the weekend in London buying cow and calf hides.

Before making her selection she checks the hides for scarring and stretch marks across the back.

Calf hides, being younger, are softer and more luxurious so bags made with calf hides tend to cost more.

The mother and businesswoman lives above the traditional Cotswold shop with her husband, Tom Clark and 14-week-old baby boy, Finley.

She has a degree in art and textile design from Bath Spa and further training with leather designers and craftsmen MacGregor and Michael in Tetbury.
