BRAVE staff and students at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) took the plunge and abseiled down the iconic RAU tower today on Friday to raise more than £1,000 for the local Gloucestershire branch of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity had a stand at the event, and the local Territorial Army regiment came along to support three of their recruits, also RAU students, who took part.

Sarah Tennant-Bell, student support services manager at the RAU, said: “This is such an exciting event for our students and staff, no one’s ever had the chance to abseil down the RAU tower before! We’re raising funds for a very worthwhile cause, The ABF Soldiers’ Charity supports soldiers, former soldiers and their families that have been affected by conflict.

“It was great to see so much support for those brave souls that took on the challenge and we’re thrilled to have raised more than £1,000 for the charity!”

The RAU tower abseil was run with the help of Aardvark Endeavours and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
