RODMARTON Primary School pupils are enjoying exploring the world of books after the opening of their first library.

In the past, books at the school had been stored in small areas around the building and, because of the size of the facilities, it was difficult for pupils to enjoy reading.

Coinciding with World Book Day, the new library was opened last Thursday, and youngsters and staff said they were delighted with the new facilities after trying them for the first time.

Pupil Eliza Barrow, eight, said: “It is great to do reading – it is a great way for pupils to learn to read.

"There are thousands of books to read and we are all going to enjoy it.”

Frankie Stevens, seven, a fan of Roald Dahl books, said she enjoyed being in the new library and liked the under-floor heating.

Rebecca Bardell, who teaches the Falcon Class, said: “Having a place for pupils to come on a regular basis gives them a chance to expand their reading genres.”
