AN air cadet squadron made a shock discovery on its 50th anniversary when it was revealed to be 25 years older than previously thought.
Tetbury Air Cadets, 1329 squadron, had barely blown out the candles when an ex-cadet unearthed a press clipping from April 1943.
The clipping, from the Western Daily Press, reads: “Tetbury Flight of the Air Training Corps has celebrated its second birthday.
“Its present strength is 33, and 28 former members have passed into the RAF and the Navy. The Flight, commanded by Mr R J Woodward, head master Tetbury Grammar School, has its own bugle band.”
The clipping proves that the squadron was formed in 1941, not 1965.
