POLICE are appealing for information after a man was bitten by an unrestrained dog in Cirencester.

The incident happened near the main gate of Cirencester Park on Cecily Hill at around 2.45pm on Friday March 6.

The 36-year-old victim from Cirencester was jogging through the park when a black dog, believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, ran up to him and bit him, injuring his left leg.

The dog’s owner was heard to be shouting at the dog attempting to call the dog back.

The owner, who was also walking a white dog, gathered the offending dog which he tethered with a rope that he was using as a lead and walked away without speaking to the victim.

The dog’s owner is described as white, male and in his 50s. He was around 5ft 7ins tall and was wearing a green jumper, red checked shirt, light grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms and dark coloured boots or shoes.

Officers investigating would like the owner of the dog or anyone who may have seen the incident to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 267 of March 6.
