INTERIOR designer, TV personality and Siddington resident Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has revealed that he has had to completely redecorate his home to make it more appealing to buyers.

The Changing Rooms star has had to drop the asking price from £1.75million to 1.599million since it went on the market in February.

Over the weekend he admitted that buyers had pulled out at the “11th hour” and that he had now exchanged his vibrant interior for plain white walls.

Talking to the Sunday Times he blamed “the shifting sands of government policy” for a lack of interest.

He added: “My long-held faith in selling your home with LLB character and design personality intact remains unbroken.”

Llewelyn-Bowen, who is now working on a 10,000 sq ft barn conversion nearby with his wife, Jackie, and daughters Cecile and Hermione, said his advice for fellow vendors was that first impressions mattered far more than individual taste.

He said: “If you want to attract the right sort of buyer, make sure the property looks as good as possible.”
