A SERIES of power outages were reported in Sherston last night after an owl flew into a set of power lines.
The bird's unfortunate accident cut power to 23 homes for more than three hours as Southern Electric engineers identified the source of the problem and repaired the cables.
Power was out on several lanes in the village from 8.51pm to 12.18am.
A spokesman for the company said that it was unusual to see an owl hit power lines and thanked residents for their patience while an assessment and repairs were carried out.
The bird did not survive the incident.
