STREET lights in Gloucestershire will be upgraded with a one-off infrastructure grant from the Department for Transport.

The county will receive £5million towards a £20million scheme to convert all streetlights to LED, which will then be controlled by a Central Management System.

Altogether, it will cost £20million by its finish in March 2019.

The Central Management System will regulate streetlights to maximize savings on energy, CO2 and maintenance.

The county is one of 28 that will be receiving part of the £275million pay out.
