November 22, 2000 9:50: Croydons contribution to Britains first national holocaust memorial day will feature a weekend of screenings of holocaust films.
The David Lean Cinema, at the Croydon Clocktower, Katharine Street, will show The Last Days, The Diary of Anne Frank, Life is Beautiful, and Europa, Europa.
And an exhibition of emotive archive photographs of wartime deportation scenes, will take place at Croydon Central Library.
Holocaust memorial day is officially Saturday, January 27 the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp.
Croydons cabinet member for equalities, councillor Karen Jewitt, said: Its important to ensure new generations know what happened and what, without constant vigilance, could happen again. Visit www.holocaustmemorialday.
