Gus MacPherson, the St Mirren manager, has decided not to appeal the red card shown to Franco Miranda during Saturday's defeat at Motherwell.

The Argentine was sent off by referee Steve Conroy on the advice of his assistant Graham Chambers for allegedly elbowing John Sutton.

MacPherson was hoping television footage would clear the defender but he has been left disappointed.

"The pictures we have are inconclusive, so there's nothing we can do about Franco's red card," he said. "He'll be suspended for the Rangers game."
