Police have released a photo of a pregnant woman who died along with her unborn child after a car which had mounted the pavement collided with her.

Anne Marie McCreadie, 29, of Carlisle, had been walking with her husband and a friend when the tragedy happened.

She was taken to hospital with serious pelvic injuries but later died.

Police were called to the emergency in the street in Penrith, Cumbria, on Friday evening.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "A blue BMW coupe mounted the pavement and collided with a pregnant female pedestrian who was walking with her husband and a male friend.

"The woman sustained serious pelvic injuries.

"The male driver of the BMW was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is helping police with their enquiries."
