December 6, 2000 12:46: A HATFUL of medals was collected by Enfield-based School of Japanese Karate at the National Championships in November.
The squad travelled to Coventry to compete with teams from as far afield as Dover, Cornwall and Anglesey.
Gold medallists were Sema Sanin Hampton in the ladies and senior team kata, Gall Lam in the senior team kata, Jonathan Brand in the mens team kata, Sam Aboudara in the junior kata, Stefano Andrean in the individual and team kumite and Divyan Shah in the team kumite.
Further medals went to Dhiren Joshi, Khushal Shah, David Gerber, Satya Keshani, Matthew Rose, Reema Joshi, Isa Marsh, Richard Barber and Phillip Martin.
The school's chief instructor, fifth-dan black belt David Alleyn, said: "This was a team effort not only from the excellent competitors who won medals but from the school's dedicated instructors who helped them to reach such a high level."
