November 11.

The Death and The Maiden set currently on tour is a replica of the one

currently seen in London which in turn is virtually the same as that

used in the Main House at the Royal Court Theatre. Similarly the

lighting for the tour is by Kevin Sleep who also lit the West End

production. One can only assume that any changes Mr Sleep has made are

improvements in his eyes.

John Linklater in his review (November 10) seems to intimate that the

Scottish audiences are being fobbed off with a second-rate set and

lighting. People who saw the West End production will realise that the

performances are certainly different (as one might expect from a

different team of actors), but the environment in which the action takes

place is the same.
