ATHENS: One bus owner was killed, another injured, and a policeman
shot when riot police tried to break a blockade by owners at a bus depot
protesting against the Socialist Government's attempt to re-nationalise
the capital's public bus system. Hospital officials said Constantinos
Kourtesis, 56, died from a blow to the head after riot police tried to
force their way through a line of bus owners blocking their entrance to
the Botanikos bus depot near Athens.
